Back at it - 5/17/2012 Hey guys! I'm back to chuggin' away at the comic. Got a couple pages penciled and sketched this week, which wasn't much, but it's mammoth compared to the zero progress of the past several months... Last week I mentioned a new project I was starting. It's tentatively called "In the Sandy Aftermath of the Robot Apocalypse" and I'll probably be posting it on here somewhere... even though part of me feels like it doesn't belong... but this is currently my only comic website so if it's going to be anywhere, it'll have to be here lol. I've been posting once a week on facebook a Single-Panel or perhaps illustrated narrative format. We'll see where it goes. I work on it Monday nights at this local coffeeshop's Open Mic night. Pure relaxation and creative atmosphere. Have a great week! - Robert' Still alive - 5/10/2012 It's been awhile! And I am dreadfully sorry. Work has been killing me and I've been exhausted. I realized that I needed a Sabbatical from the comic to just chill. Now I've finally finished the brunt of my freelance work and I finally feel up to revisiting GDC. Thank you for everyone who's continued to check this site to see if I've been updating. It's for you that I'm doing this and it's to you that I apologize for not posting in over 2 months. Thank you for your continued support! I resumed work on Chapter 3 just this week, so I don't have a lot to show yet, but hopefully it will pick up. Coincidentally I've also been working on 2 other side projects, I might post those online somehow, I have yet to decide on that. One of those projects is Pirates of the Iron Hull (affectionately known as the "Pirate Comic") and the other is a new project I planned some years ago that is manifesting itself as almost an illustrated storybook. I'm keeping it loose and letting it evolve. I can tell you that it's about the aftermath of the Robot Apocalypse. Got some work done - 3/7/2012 Got to pencil a page this week and do a little bit of under-drawing. This week's been insane at work, I pretty much just worked and (sometimes) slept. Happy I made some progress last weekend or else I'd have nothing to show for it this weekend! Hopefully with my overtime money I can buy a bike or something. Peace ya'll. Imma go make some techno music. - Robert' Storyboarding: DONE. - 3/2/2012 Finished the chapter 3 storyboard! Chapter 3 will be 36 pages total. Now I can start doing some percentages on the Chapter 3 progress bars! I was talking with my friend Chrissy over the weekend and she suggested an interesting idea for GDC. She suggested introducing a character (which would be herself, of course) which would act as a TRIPLE agent. Not a double agent, but a TRIPLE agent!! This was too good to pass up, I needed to know what a triple agent could possibly be. She said that she would a good guy, but then you find out she's actually a member of the Kun Rix, but then later you find out she's not a good guy or a bad guy, but she's actually a Ren Ren working for Roz's people! (She mentioned something about unzipping her skin to reveal a cat, which sounds far-fetched, but considering everything else involved in being a triple agent, it may not be the hardest hurdle to jump.) A TRIPLE agent! Revolutionary! I don't think anyone's ever done that before. I'll have to wrap my brian around it, and if there's any way I can fit one in the story, a Triple Agent is definitely in the works, haha. Cordially, - Robert' - 2/24/2012 Hey Folks, I was finally able to draw some this week! (I need to finish storyboarding the dang thing so I can get rid of some question marks on the progress bars and get some nice percentages going! I know it's going to be at least 25 pages, that's as far as I've gotten with the storyboard.) The new papers working out nicely, thank you for asking. Hopefully gonna implement some site changes soon. Put up an art section, maybe get some merch and downloads stuff. Fresh Air - 2/17/2012 Missed an update last week, sorry, I know I'm terrible. I left straight from work Friday night to go on a retreat with my friends. It was a breath of fresh air to my life, I really needed it. Plus the car ride there and back was packed with Skrillex and The Ramones and my good friend Shannon. So pretty much awesome. I got another stack of freelance stuff thrown upon me, so I gotta do that crap. I got to do a pretty sweet T-shirt design (unrelated to the crappy freelance stuff) and that was pretty cool, maybe I'll post it up here or at least link to my portfolio... This weekend I should finally have some time to work on GDC some more as well as get some of that side work out of the way. Enjoy the week and the weather! - Robert'
So I did some sketching and I have some sweet concept art for you guys! Some of it's for Chapter 3, some of it's for further on. Click on the thumbnails for full size versions! Hope you guys like 'em! And the girl is Aureas, I know I've been taunting you with pictures of her and you have no idea who she is. She's a key figure, but not until later on.... mystery.... The helicopter is a model I'm working on for a Government Helicopter for a scene in Ch.3. Shame that I'll have to come up with a whole three-dimension design of a helicopter for just 2 panels. Oh well, such is life and comics. lol I plan on creating a concept art page where art like this will all be compiled in the near future. Maybe open up a fan art section too for all you artsy types like me! ;) Played Skyward Sword this weekend. It was awesome! I felt myself getting sucked into the story. So I worked a little this week on my second comic, Pirates of the Iron Hull. It was a project I used to have online years ago and I've been wanting to start back up for awhile. (Don't worry, this isn't replacing GDC, I'm going to do both simultaneously!) Pirates of the Iron Hull is a different outlet than GDC. While GDC is more of my dark side and more of trying to write a good story, PIH is more of my comedic side. Anyway, it was a great stress relief this week. I may post some art on here as it gets more developed, right now I'm still exprimenting with some stuff, so stay tuned for more on that! Meanwhile, I've been working on getting a concrete storyboard down for Chapter 3 of GDC, so I can resume drawing on it. Once I get this last batch of freelance work done, I'll have a lot more time. (I just got assigned a new website to build coming up in probably a week). Have a great week guys! - Robert'
I LOVE cupcakes. Ok so at work today this client was so happy with her fliers that she brought us cupcakes. Now, I'm not a big fan of sweets, but I LOVE cupcakes. So as soon as I could I snagged myself one and took my lunch break. Now, for those of you who quit reading at "I'm not a big fan of sweets": Yes, I know. I should be hanged at dawn for my treason. Sorry. Back to business. GOT my paper in today! Ok, So Operation Get Big had a flaw. I thought I already had 11x17 paper, and I did; (<- does a semicolon go there? I don't ever know when to use them!) however; the paper I had was matte photo paper, so it had this coating on it and whenever I went to draw on it, I couldn't erase! I thought my erasers were going out, but I even tried a new one and it had the same effect; Three or so pages in I realized it was the paper. Afterwards; I went on a series of gambles to find some good paper and finally arrived at this: Or this.
